HERBALOOMS
A Herbal Dyeing Initiative by Fortuna Fabrics 🌿
Our Roots – The Legacy of the 18 Siddhas
At Herbaloom, our journey is deeply inspired by the timeless wisdom of the 18 Siddhas—revered ancient scientists, healers, and spiritual masters of South India. Their contributions went far beyond medicine; they enriched humanity through astronomy, astrology, vastu shastra, alchemy, martial arts, yoga, and meditation.
Among their many gifts, the Siddhas preserved the sacred art of Ayurvedic dyeing—infusing textiles with the healing properties of herbs. These were not just fabrics, but living textiles designed to balance the doshas, soothe the skin, and promote wellness. Every thread carried the essence of nature, turning clothing into a source of health and protection.
The foremost among them, Siddhar Agasthiyar, known as the father of Siddha medicine, lived near Balaramapuram, Kerala—a place celebrated for its handloom heritage. Here, tradition tells of an ancient temple dedicated to Agasthiyar, honoring his pioneering role in both Siddha medicine and Ayurvedic textiles.
By reviving these ancient practices, Herbaloom carries forward the Siddhas’ vision: to blend wellness, sustainability, and culture into every fabric. Our garments are more than fashion—they are a revival of a living heritage, crafted to nurture the body, mind, and spirit.
